FREE Cat Spay for Gwinnett County Residents

SpayGeorgia  is proud (and kind enough) to sponsor FIFTY FREE FEMALE CAT SPAY/RABIES certificates to be used in April.  The certificates are redeemable only at Planned PEThood in Duluth in Gwinnett County.  These certificates will be issued on a first come, first served basis and there will be only one per household.  These are for owned pets only.  So, if you're a cat owner living in Gwinnett or know someone who is, pass it along!

Spay Neuter Globally

Think spay neuter efforts are concentrated only here in the US?  Below is a link to a spay neuter group out of Egypt.  Worldwide efforts to increase the awareness of spay neuter will decrease the vast amount of animals  throughout the world that are needlessly put down because there are simply too many to care for.  Like their page and support their efforts!

Wise Up!

This is a great video from our friends at the Spay/Neuter Coalition.  Spread the word; unwanted animals will always be a problem unless we spay and neuter our pets.

Directory for Low Cost Spay/Neuter Programs

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) in partnership with PetSmart Charities offers a comprehensive and search friendly database designed to help pet owners find low cost spay/neuter campaigns in their own community.  This database is constantly maintained and updated so keep checking back if at first your zip code doesn't return any results.

A long term benefit of spaying and neutering is improving the health of your cats.  Spaying females prior to their first heat cycle nearly eliminates the risk of breast cancer and totally prevents uterine infections and uterine cancer.  Neutering males prevents testicular cancer and enlargement of the prostate gland and greatly reduces the risk of perianal tumors.
